Writer Elizabeth Gilbert says, “If you’re alive, you’re a creative person.”  So, this weekend of stories and workshops is for all of us. Come play and see what happens when we give ourselves space and time to be inspired, listen to our own creative spirits, and explore ways to express and celebrate our journeys.

We each have a story.  Sometimes it’s bursting to be expressed, while other times it lays deep in wait. As we breathe it into expression, we step into our own power.  We take our place in the human family story. We are somehow made more alive, more whole – and so are the people who listen and watch and share in it.

Come explore your creative spirit, be it through music, visual arts, dance, drama, comedy or writing. Exercise your creative muscles. Express your story. Enrich our lives and community.

Our Creative Spirit: Stories and Song on Friday, September 25, 7:00 pm in Smith Hall

($25 admission if purchased separately from the Saturday workshops)

featuring The Cracks Are Where the Light Gets In with John Genette.  In this one-hour solo performance, John takes you on a heartfelt journey through the joys and sorrows of close relationships. In story and song, he relives seminal moments with his sprightly young daughter, industrious father, soldier brother, and artistic mother, who channeled her grief into poetry. Each episode reveals that our setbacks can be a source of healing and renewal—if we let the light come through the cracks.

and My Journey with Kituwah with Tom Gebler.  In 1981, sculptor Tom Gebler received a vision of a Native American man. It marked the beginning of a mysterious journey filled with unexplainable and seemingly unrelated events yet Tom held to a belief that it would all make sense someday. Thirty years would pass before he made a remarkable discovery of the true connection to the vision that spans eight generations and over two hundred years. The unexplainable and unrelated events were at once explained and related.
